KPN and Rijksmuseum extend collaboration until 2025

KPN and the Rijksmuseum are extending their collaboration until March 2025. Joost Farwerck, CEO of KPN, and Taco Dibbits, General Director of the Rijksmuseum, made the announcement at the opening of the Vermeer exhibition in front of one of the artist’s most famous works, The Little Street. Main sponsor KPN and the Rijksmuseum have been partners for 10 years.

Online experience: Closer to Johannes Vermeer
The Rijksmuseum is currently hosting a unique exhibition on the seventeenth-century master Johannes Vermeer, in which there is tremendous public interest. The online experience Closer to Johannes Vermeer, made possible thanks to KPN, has already had more than three million views. The website gives Vermeer enthusiasts around the world the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life and work of the Delft master. British actor Stephen Fry leads the tour in English, while Dutch actress Joy Delima guides Dutch-speaking visitors. Thanks to ultra-high-resolution photographs, it is possible – for the very first time – to zoom in on the minutest details of paintings, such as on The Milkmaid, from the Rijksmuseum’s own collection, and Officer and Laughing Girl, from the Frick Collection.

KPN and the Rijksmuseum
In the coming months, KPN will also be inviting customers and employees to visit the Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum. Every year, KPN also organizes live online tours for customers, and thousands of customers are invited to the exclusive KPN Customer Month. Regular customers then receive extra special treatment during their visit to the Rijksmuseum. Via the KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds, KPN invites vulnerable groups to visit the museum. Guests are accompanied by KPN volunteers.

Since the reopening of the Rijksmuseum in 2013, KPN has – as lead sponsor – not only made a financial contribution but has also supplied all services in the domain of telephony, data, and ICT. KPN is a digital partner of Operation Night Watch and one of the developers of the Rijksmuseum App. Thanks to this app, which is literally ‘connected by KPN’, as many people as possible can enjoy the museum’s collection.
