Girls' Day 2024: 130 girls visit KPN for an introduction to technology and IT

On Thursday April 11, KPN will welcome 130 girls on a visit to introduce them to the world of technology, the internet, IT and security.

The schoolgirls will discover the versatility of working in technology at KPN locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zoetermeer and Hilversum. They will be given guided tours and attend workshops, introductions and activities organized by predominantly female employees, all designed to inspire them to consider a future in the IT and technology industries.

Marieke Snoep, Consumer Market Director and member of the Board of Management of KPN, will be in Zoetermeer to meet the girls and stresses the importance of Girls' Day: “Diversity and inclusivity make us future proof. It starts when people are still in secondary education, where far fewer girls than boys are still choosing to go on to study technology. So, we are embracing this initiative wholeheartedly. By introducing these girls to technical professions in a way that appeals to them, we hope to be able to contribute to the achievement of more diversity in the technological sector. We’ll definitely challenge them to discover and realize their potential."

About Girls’ Day
Girls’ Day is an annual event in which thousands of girls visit businesses in the technological sector. VHTO, the Dutch expertise center for gender diversity in science, technology and IT, links schools to local businesses and business units. This gives girls a low-threshold introduction to the versatility and opportunities open to them if they decide to study and work in the technology sector.
