For the 5th time in a row KPN voted the most sustainable telecom brand

Dutch consumers have voted KPN the most sustainable telecom brand in the Netherlands for the fifth time in a row. This is evident from the latest Sustainable Brand Index, a survey of more than 12,000 Dutch people.

KPN is proud of this 'green' recognition and remains committed to a sustainable future. The green ambitions are seen and appreciated by a growing group of consumers. We have been working on a #BetterInternet for years, not only faster and more stable, but above all safer, more social and greener. As a green provider, KPN is committed to sustainability and reducing its impact on the environment.

Energy efficiency
Data traffic on our networks is growing exponentially, while energy consumption has decreased significantly in absolute terms in recent years. Thanks to investments in a sustainable and efficient network, KPN's actual electricity consumption will have fallen by almost half by 2030. Since 2011, all energy we use has been green. Electricity that will mainly be generated in the coming years from a new wind farm off the Dutch coast. In addition, KPN aims for net zero emissions in the value chain by the end of 2040.

Circular
By limiting our footprint, we actively strive for a greener future by focusing on circularity. The aim is to reduce the use of raw materials. Where these are necessary, for example with new hardware, recycled materials are used. We also encourage reuse. The aim is to be almost completely circular by the end of 2025.

Biodiverse
KPN also tries to make a positive contribution to biological diversity. Together with Naturalis, KPN is investigating how objects in society can be used to improve biodiversity. For example, KPN has previously initiated fauna sensors and small buildings are being transformed into a green oasis. The first nature-inclusive fiber optic power station in Leiden is a good example of this. Another ten locations will follow next year that contribute to local biodiversity, water storage and cooling of the city.
