KPN to participate in 3.5 GHz auction

KPN will register for the auction of national 5G licenses, the registration period for which opened today. During the auction, spectrum will be made available in the important 3.5 GHz band, enabling even higher 5G speeds and more capacity.

KPN's mobile 5G network has been tested Netherlands’ fastest 5G network. Yet for the next step of 5G, with even more speed and capacity, we need the 3.5GHz frequency band. This is also necessary to keep the mobile experience of customers excellent, since data traffic continues to grow year on year.

It is therefore good that this important frequency band will be auctioned in 2024. Not only to maintain and expand the global leading position of Dutch mobile networks, but also to realize the promise of 5G for the digitalization of the Netherlands.

In view of the strict auction rules, KPN is unable to give any further details about its participation in this auction.
