umlaut: KPN has the best mobile network with highest score worldwide in 2021/2022

KPNs mobile network has been awarded the best in the Netherlands by the respected benchmarking expert umlaut. With a score of 976 out of 1000 points, KPN is not only the best in the Netherlands, but also has the highest score worldwide achieved in umlaut’s 2021/2022 network tests so far. This is reflected in today’s publication of the annual independent benchmark of the Dutch mobile networks.

The annual network benchmark of the German Connect Magazine, carried out by benchmarking expert umlaut, is regarded as one of the leading tests in the telecom sector. KPN wins “Best in Test umlaut connect Mobile Network Test in the Netherlands 2022” and a comparison between KPN's mobile network and a Swiss watch can be made; of all the recently surveyed countries in the world, only the Swiss operator Swisscom scores as well 976 points.

In recent weeks, umlaut covered almost 6000 kilometers by car, train and on foot through all twelve Dutch provinces, along all (large) cities, villages and connecting roads. During all these tests, the call quality, call setup times, the quality of video streaming and how quickly web pages load and files can be downloaded or sent were continuously measured. All together, these measurements form a good picture of reality and are representative of the customer experience on the different mobile networks.

Best data-network
The result is 'outstanding', says umlaut, with KPN coming out as the winner, followed by T-Mobile (2) and VodafoneZiggo (3). KPN stands out with the best overall performance, the best data quality, both in the cities, on the road and in the train. KPN also takes the win in four of the five major cities. Especially when you only look at 5G, KPN shows the highest download speeds and KPN also scores better than the other operators in terms of reliability.

Most modern and most awarded mobile network in the Netherlands
KPN has the most modern mobile network in the Netherlands with the largest 5G footprint of all operators. More than 4000 of the 5000 mobile sites throughout the Netherlands have now been modernized and the remainder will be largely completed this year. KPN is currently the most awarded mobile network in the Netherlands. Earlier this year, speedtester Ookla recognized KPN as the 'Best Mobile Network' in the Netherlands for the third time in a row.
