KPN is now also deploying 5G for home internet.
KPN introduces 5G Internet at Home : fast and simple internet via KPN’s best 5G network. With this solution, KPN customers at addresses where no—or no good—fixed internet connection is available receive an immediately available alternative for reliable internet at home. With fiber optics and 5G, KPN possesses the best networks in the Netherlands. This quality is independently recognized. For instance, KPN was recently named the best mobile network in the Netherlands for the fifth time in a row , achieving the highest score worldwide.
With 5G Internet at Home, KPN is now deploying this network quality more broadly: fixed internet via the best 5G network. 5G Internet at Home was developed with maximum simplicity as the starting point. With the integrated SIM card and plug-and-play installation, customers are online within seconds. Setting up and managing the connection is also simple via the MijnKPN app, which allows customers to quickly configure and monitor their network. The solution uses KPN's nationwide 5G network and advanced antenna technology. In combination with Wi-Fi 7 technology, the modem offers stable performance and strong coverage throughout the home, even when used simultaneously by multiple devices.
“We see that many customers need internet that is not only fast, but above all easy to install and works immediately. With 5G Internet at Home, you are online within seconds. Moreover, it is flexible: you can easily take it with you to, for example, a holiday address or temporary accommodation,” says Robin Clements, Commercial Director Consumer Market at KPN, proudly.
5G Home Internet offers unlimited data for regular use and download speeds that can reach up to 1000 Mbit/s, depending on location and network load. This makes the solution suitable for applications such as streaming, working from home, and online entertainment.
The service is being rolled out in phases. KPN is initially focusing on addresses where no or no good fixed internet connection is available. If fiber optic is available at an address, KPN will provide fiber optic. For the time being, 5G-Internet Thuis is offered as an internet solution without additional services such as TV+ or fixed telephony. However, customers can order various streaming services with 5G-Internet Thuis .
“We are building out this solution step by step and are specifically looking at usage and customer needs before scaling up further,” says Robin Clements. Customers who combine 5G Home Internet with a KPN mobile subscription benefit from KPN Combivoordeel, whereby they are rewarded monthly with a streaming service such as Netflix or Videoland.
In terms of security , 5G Internet at Home is also immediately complete. Customers receive security for five devices as standard, so they can safely browse the internet, stream, and work at home. Installation and support are handled easily via the MijnKPN app, where customers can also find help using their connection.
