KPN wants to bring parents and children closer together online

The conversation starts with a single question: how was your day online?

KPN remains committed to #BetterInternet. For many parents, their children's online lives are still a mystery. As a result, they often miss crucial signals of stress or negative influences that play out between the lines : in emojis, memes, or subtle peer pressure. KPN is addressing this growing gap between parents and their children with a new online campaign. The telecom company believes that the path to connection begins with one simple question: "How was your day online?"

Two separate worlds
Recent research shows that parents often lack sufficient insight into their children's digital lives. A staggering one in four parents (26%) has little to no insight into their child's online activities. At the same time, a full nine out of ten children between the ages of ten and seventeen (89%) say they would definitely go to their parents if something bothered them, as long as they expect their parents to understand.

“How was your day online?”
To help parents gain more insight into and control over their children's online lives, KPN offers practical tips for having open and positive conversations about the internet at kpn.com/beterinternet . The company is also launching a video series in which parents and children independently answer questions about the uncertainties they experience online.

Because many parents want to, but simply don't fully understand the digital world of teenagers. By providing insight into popular apps, online behavior, and hidden risks, KPN helps parents be involved and start the conversation, every single day. Simply asking, "How was your day online?" can make a world of difference.
