KPN unveils iconic phones inspired by Netflix hits

KPN brings three iconic phones to life, inspired by the popular Netflix hits La Casa De Papel, The Crown, and Stranger Things. Following the successful launch of the revamped Combivoordeel program, where customers receive Netflix as a gift when combining Internet and Mobile, KPN gives enthusiasts the opportunity to get even closer to their favorite entertainment. With the introduction of these iconic phones, everyone has a chance to own a unique, limited collector's item.

Iconic Phones 

At the beginning of last month, KPN announced their revamped Combivoordeel program, where new and existing customers can benefit from extra advantages by combining various KPN subscriptions. Combine your home internet and mobile telephony, and you will receive Netflix or ESPN Compleet as a gift every month. Stack even more products, and you will receive even more benefits. 

To celebrate the launch, KPN today reveals the iconic phones: a special collection where iconic phones from three Netflix series have been brought to life. With these phones, which play a crucial role in iconic scenes and thus inspired KPN as a telecom company, you can actually make calls and they are equipped with features directly inspired by the beloved series.

“Ten years ago, KPN added Netflix to the TV platform, and it was immediately well-received by customers, and nowadays Netflix is a fixed part of our revamped Combivoordeel,” begins Marieke Snoep, Chief Consumer Officer at KPN. “Our collaboration with Netflix allows us to create a unique experience, bringing entertainment closer to the fans and allowing them to experience their favorite series in a new way.”

From Cracking Safes to Learning Etiquette

The three devices are inspired by three popular Netflix series: La Casa de Papel, The Crown, and Stranger Things. Each device is fully functional for making calls, has a USB-C port, and features a matching ringtone and voicemail. Additionally, the phones come with unique characteristics:

• The Casa De Papel phone: The recognizable red phone, equipped with the distinctive Bella Ciao ringtone, allows users to listen in on the walkie-talkies of a gang that is robbing a bank. To negotiate without revealing your identity, you can distort your voice with the push of a button. Additionally, with the right code, you gain access to a secret (mini) safe.
• Stranger Things walkie-talkie: What makes this retro device special is the connection to The Upside Down. Turn the phone upside down and to everyone, you sound like you're calling from The Upside Down. Slide out the antenna and the phone transforms into a true Demogorgon detector. And switch to channel B to listen in on what is happening in the mysterious lab.
• The Crown phone: Through this classic phone, users gain access to an etiquette assistant, where you receive tips on how to behave like a true royal. Curious about what the Royal Family's schedule looks like? With the push of a button, you are updated on the Royal Agenda. But that's not all: with one push of a button, you transform your voice into a majestic, classic tone, turning any conversation into a royal audience.
