KPN opened the very first GenZ store in Den Helder

Virtual employees help customers in the latest KPN store formula

“Digital first, human assisted” is the motto of the newest KPN store that opens today. In Den Helder, customers can go for the latest products and the best service. Customers can arrange their own affairs in the store with the help of a remote employee. The store is the perfect addition to the digital shopping experience and the MyKPN app, and fully equipped to the wishes of the future shopping generation.

It will take some getting used to for the first visitors to the new KPN store. When you enter, you won't immediately encounter an employee. The youngest generation also prefers that. "Customers often come to the store very specifically after having already oriented themselves online. Or they have already been helped online and then only have to pick up their new modem, then the customer can immediately be provided with new equipment in the new store," says Jörg Kramer of KPN. "But of course we are there; with a simple push of a button, an employee is ready to help you." In the store you can also take out or renew a subscription and even take the product home with you immediately. In addition, customers can also exchange KPN equipment in the event of a defect.

This innovative store concept is new to the Netherlands and has come over from Estonia. It is successful because it offers customers a choice in how they want to be helped. “Customers can be helped very specifically, thanks to a KPN employee at a distance. At the same time, we find it very important to be able to offer a listening ear if the customer wants that. So we will certainly continue to do that in the vicinity and tailored to our customers,” Kramer assures.

The new store in Den Helder is also a trial for KPN to gain experience in how customers want to be helped. In the first few weeks, an employee will be present to see if customers need to be shown around. The experiences form the basis for adapting the concept to the customer's wishes.

As a telecom provider, KPN has almost 100 stores throughout the Netherlands. These are important service points for customers and are image-defining in the shopping street. The new store in Den Helder can be found Keizerstraat 6, Den Helder.
