KPN launches a new series about e-sports players with 'Achter de Knoppen!'

In ‘Achter de Knoppen!’, to be broadcast every two weeks, presenter Paskie Rokus goes in search of background details from the KPN eDivisie that only he can discover.

KPN and the football organization Eredivisie CV announced that they are committing themselves to the KPN eDivisie for the next three seasons. Last season the KPN eDivisie achieved millions of views, the largest number in its six-year history. So gaming and eSports have now become an integral part of youth culture.

According to Mark Versteegen, director of Sponsoring at KPN, the next step is to put the football fans in touch with the gamers. “In ‘Achter de Knoppen!’ we are going to show that the link between the fans of the eDivisie and the fans of the Eredivisie is becoming increasingly close. The KPN eDivisie is a top-level eSports competition and, just like the star footballers in the Eredivisie, our eSporters deserve a personal portrait and a stage to display their talents.”

“The KPN eDivisie is a platform for Eredivisie clubs that is attracting a new, not easily accessible generation of football fans,” says Jos van Helvoirt, Content Manager (e)Sports Eredivisie. “With ‘Achter de Knoppen!’, in which we bring footballers and eSporters together, we will enable the KPN eDivisie to take another big step forward.”

Gaming on the best network of the Netherlands
Many variants of gaming rely on a fast, stable connection with a low response time. KPN’s high-quality network connections, both at home and via the mobile network, are indispensable for the best gaming experience.

“Achter de Knoppen!” kicks off at Heracles with eSporter Collin Dekkers. The first four episodes can be seen on KPN’s YouTube account starting on January 30. Would you like to see the eSporters in action live? At the finals on March 30 in H20 in Purmerend you can do just that.
