KPN eDivisie Finals: 'Dutch Masters' compete for national title

The Rijksmuseum will be the stage for the ultimate Dutch esports event on Saturday 19 April. In the hall of fame of the Netherlands' most famous museum, the four best clubs from the KPN eDivisie will compete for the national championship. A special combination of sports and culture, between the legends of the past and the e-heroes of today.

Official national championship
On Saturday 19 April, the competition day starts with the quarter finals in Zeist, where the esports players of Ajax, AZ, Almere City, Feyenoord, FC Twente, FC Utrecht, Heracles Almelo and Willem II will compete against each other. Of the eight clubs, four clubs will advance to the semi-finals, where the two finalists will be determined. The semi-finals and the final will be played in the Rijksmuseum, surrounded by the heroes of the past.

There is a lot at stake. During the denouement of the eighth season of the KPN eDivisie, it will be determined who can officially call themselves national champion for a year. In addition, the clubs play for qualification for the most important international tournaments. The winner and runner-up qualify directly for the FC Pro World Championship and the top four qualify for the prestigious eChampions League.

The fusion of sport and culture
The Rijksmuseum will be the battleground for the first time this year. The Dutch esports masters will compete against each other under the paintings of the original Dutch Masters. “We saw a unique opportunity. KPN eDivisie awards and its emerging talents
In addition to the final, three awards will be presented in the museum's hall of fame, in the categories: Player of the Year, Talent of the Year, Goal of the Year and an Appreciation Award for a former champion of the KPN eDivisie, to express a word of thanks and to show what this player has meant to the eDivisie competition.

Before the final of the pros, the best amateurs of the Netherlands get the chance to play themselves into the spotlight of the eighteen Eredivisie clubs. They compete against each other for the KPN eDivisie Cup, which is organized especially for talented gamers. The winner of this Cup wins €2000 in prize money and a GXTrust Gaming Chair.

Broadcast worldwide
The championship will be broadcasted worldwide, so fans can follow it live. The finals start at 20:00. In the Netherlands, the matches can be followed via ESPN and via the YouTube and Twitch channels of KPN eDivisie. Internationally, the event can be followed live via the YouTube and Twitch channels of EA SPORTS FC.
