KPN Campus starts with 5G for mission and business-critical applications

KPN is introducing KPN Campus, through which it will provide on-premise 5G services and applications for organizations. With this new service, KPN is responding to the growing demand from corporate customers for mission- and business-critical voice and data applications over the mobile network. KPN Campus provides secure and reliable infrastructure and services over public, hybrid and —as of now— private 5G networks. In the coming months, KPN will gradually introduce various KPN Campus services that combine 5G, on-premise computing, indoor localization and local area networks (LAN).
A growing number of organizations are using mobile networks for their operations and mission-critical processes. With the introduction of KPN Campus, KPN is responding to the growing need for more autonomy, reliability, and guarantees as regards on-premise infrastructure. KPN Campus allows corporate customers in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare to meet the demands placed on digital infrastructure by new technologies such as AI and hyperautomation. Many of these applications require more than just speed and connectivity —a high level of security, high-quality coverage (including indoors), availability guarantees, and fast response times are also critical.

Public, hybrid & private 5G
KPN Campus offers a bespoke connectivity solution, no matter what the organization’s digitalization issue is. It offers public 5G for high-performance indoor coverage, for example. Organizations will also have the ability to handle extensive mobile data traffic locally through a local 5G gateway (hybrid 5G). KPN Campus also enables enterprises to set up a fully private mobile network that can be used for 4G as well as 5G devices and runs completely autonomously at the customer’s premises (private 5G).
This gives corporate customers greater autonomy, keeps all data local and provides the highest possible availability guarantees. The network capacity can, for example, be fully allocated to certain mission-critical applications, such as driving autonomous vehicles and robots or augmented reality applications. In this process, KPN takes the worry out of setting up and managing the private 5G environment, while at the same time allowing customers to gain strategic advantages in terms of security, productivity and innovation.
