KPN brings cat Louis virtually to life in a heartwarming Christmas commercial

This holiday season, KPN is surprising the Netherlands with its first AI-powered Christmas commercial, featuring cat Louis, a long-time crowd-pleaser, on a new, cinematic adventure. On a wintry evening, KPN cat Louis seeks warmth and connection. The result is an atmospheric story that seamlessly aligns with KPN's message: Christmas is all about caring for one another.

Enjoying each other's company, watching the best Christmas entertainment together, streaming the Christmas playlist... The holidays are a time when the whole household is truly happy. With this Christmas story, KPN wishes everyone happy holidays .

"We also wanted to give Louis a little rest this year," says Dave Frauenfelder, KPN's Brand Director. "With AI, we were able to use his cinematic likeness for the Christmas commercial. This way, the real Louis can stay cozy by the fire until he's back on TV in the new year."

The commercial shows Louis on a magical winter evening, full of relatable emotions: the search for warmth and the small gestures that bring people closer together. Despite the story taking place in a world created by AI, the message remains purely human. Because Christmas is a time when you truly see each other.

This year, KPN is joining the tradition of major Dutch Christmas campaigns for the first time. At the same time, the brand remains true to its role in society: the brand that connects people and demonstrates the value of attention and closeness.

The commercial will premiere during the Ster Christmas Commercial Premiere on December 6th at around 9:25 PM on NPO 1, and will also be available on social media afterwards.
