KPN acquires Kabeltex

KPN acquires Kabeltex, for which KPN and Kabeltex signed an agreement on 30 November 2023. Kabeltex owns fiber networks and an internet service provider on Texel and the north of North Holland. The company has full fiber coverage on Texel and is currently completing the rollout of fiber in Den Helder, Hollands Kroon and Schagen. Kabeltex' fiber networks include approximately 18,000 homes passed.

This acquisition is in line with KPN's aim to cover approximately 80% of the Netherlands with fiber together with Glaspoort by the end of 2026. Fiber is essential for providing high-speed internet, which is of great importance for consumers, businesses and society.

Following completion of the acquisition, KPN will add Kabeltex' fiber networks to its existing offering of wholesale services for fiber. This allows a wide range of market parties to be active on these networks, giving end users a broad choice of various providers and suppliers. Financial details are not disclosed.
