Chinese tourists discover Europe through an innovative miniprogram

Summary

Wednesday March 28th was the official launch of the WeChat Go Europe mini-program, following the collaboration between China’s internet giant Tencent (WeChat) and KPN. The WeChat Go Europe mini-program, an app within the familiar WeChat environment, offers relevant travel information for Chinese tourists in Europe. The mini-program inspires, informs and accompanies Chinese visitors during their journey through Europe.

Europe is becoming increasingly popular for Chinese visitors. To make their journey through Europe easier, WeChat and KPN successfully launched a WeChat Go SIM card last year. With the launch of the mini travel program, WeChat and KPN connect various European parties that focus on the tourism sector. Together with the NBTC Holland Marketing, launching partner in the Netherlands, the Chinese tourist gets access to a wide range of tourist attractions, restaurants, transport options, relevant retail offers and interesting information about the must-see locations in Europe.

With great interest and in the presence of the Chinese Consulate, WeChatGo Europe was officially launched in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. WeChat Go Europe supports existing WeChat functionalities, such as WeChat Pay and a large number of social functionalities. In addition to the Netherlands, the WeChat Go Europe mini-program is also being rolled out in cities such as London, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin and Rome.
