The monitor maps, among other things, which services they use, how they handle subscriptions, which programs they look forward to, and how they experience films, series, sports, and popular programs. The study is commissioned by KPN and conducted by PanelWizard. This year, over a thousand Dutch people aged 18 and older were surveyed, representative in terms of gender, age, family situation, employment status, highest level of education, and region. The full research methodology and report are available upon request.

About streaming at KPN
KPN brings together movies, series, programs, and live sports for customers who use television and streaming services via KPN. Customers who combine fixed and mobile services can choose monthly from Videoland Basis, Netflix Basic, or ESPN Compleet via Combivoordeel. They can easily adjust their choice in the MijnKPN app.

</pp:boilerplate>

The Dutch struggle to find the right films and series within the vast selection. Almost three-quarters of streaming subscribers (72%) find films, series, and sports spread across too many services. Approximately the same group (73%) sometimes does not watch a program or film if a separate subscription is required. This is according to KPN's annual Streaming Monitor. However, the Dutch are far from bored. Almost two-thirds (63%) look forward to new series or seasons. B&B Vol Liefde and live sports are examples of television moments that the Dutch settle down to watch.

Easier to switch
In addition, the Dutch want more control over their streaming services. For example, over half of streaming subscribers (51%) are bothered by the price level, and an equally large group (51%) wants to be able to switch between services more easily. The need for flexibility is therefore high. Robin Clements of KPN: “The Dutch are streaming more and more often, and the range of films, series, and sports is constantly expanding. Precisely because of this, it is sometimes becoming more difficult to remember what you can watch where and which subscriptions you have. In practice, we therefore see that viewers have a need for more overview and want to be able to adjust their subscriptions more easily.”

Participate in B&B Vol Liefde
KPN also conducted research into popular programs. B&B Vol Liefde (available to stream on RTL 4 as well as on Videoland) proves to be popular: about 37% of the Dutch tune in. And they certainly do not always do so because we are romantically inclined. Only a small percentage of viewers (18%) list romance in their top 3 reasons for watching the program. By far the most chosen reason is the awkward moments (49%). Interestingly, 10% of viewers would (perhaps) want to participate themselves if they were single.

Coaches on the bench
Live sports also attract many viewers. Four out of ten Dutch people (40%) occasionally watch Eredivisie football live, and three out of ten (30%) watch Formula 1. In football, the couch quickly turns into a dugout: 43% of Eredivisie viewers comment on the referee, 41% grumble at the coach or players, and 39% tell players out loud what to do. Formula 1 viewers are slightly less critical in this regard: a quarter (25%) comment on the presenters or commentators, and an equally large group on the race officials. Only 12% ever get angry at a driver.

Netflix and Videoland popular
It is striking that the majority has access to Netflix content. The Dutch Videoland is also popular. Behind that follows a broad group of international platforms and sports services.

Innovatie
