More than 800 flights were carried out in the first year. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), ANWB, Isala, LVNL, and KPN are continuing the research to gather more knowledge. The insights gained contribute to the development of a national drone network, making the use of medical drones more widely applicable.

The drones transported various medical supplies, including refrigerated medication, and blood samples. The results show that drones can be a useful addition to existing hospital processes and that transport has no relevant impact on the quality of the investigated medicines.

KPN supports the pilot with mobile connectivity for the drones. During flights, the drones use KPN's 4G and 5G network. With KPN Drone Connect, KPN gains insight into network coverage at drone altitude and the quality of the connection during flight.

Results of the first pilot year
The test has yielded the following results since the start in September 2025:

More than 800 flights performed

A fixed flight route of 22 kilometers between Isala Meppel and Isala Zwolle

An average flight duration of 14 minutes

An operational availability of 92-95%

Safe execution of flights in shared airspace

Transport of medication and blood samples between hospital locations

Practical experience with the integration of medical drones into Dutch airspace

Learning in practice
For a year, in all seasons, the route between Meppel and Zwolle was used to test medical drone flights in practice. Strong winds proved to be the biggest challenge. As a result, flights had to be postponed or cancelled on some days. The parties involved also gained experience with technical points of attention. The pilot demonstrates that medical drone flights can take place safely in a so-called corridor between the two hospital locations. The experience gained will contribute to the further expansion of the pilot and to research into the safe integration of manned and unmanned aviation. This offers prospects for nationwide scaling up of, among other things, medical drone flights in busy Dutch airspace, provided that regulations ensure the visibility of aircraft and clear right-of-way rules.

Towards a nationwide medical drone network
The extended pilot investigates how drone transport can be used more broadly for laboratory diagnostics, various patient groups, and pharmaceutical products. The experiences on the route between Meppel and Zwolle form an important basis for future drone corridors and a national medical drone network.

The monitor maps, among other things, which services they use, how they handle subscriptions, which programs they look forward to, and how they experience films, series, sports, and popular programs. The study is commissioned by KPN and conducted by PanelWizard. This year, over a thousand Dutch people aged 18 and older were surveyed, representative in terms of gender, age, family situation, employment status, highest level of education, and region. The full research methodology and report are available upon request.

About streaming at KPN
KPN brings together movies, series, programs, and live sports for customers who use television and streaming services via KPN. They can easily adjust their choice in the MijnKPN app.

</pp:boilerplate>

The Dutch struggle to find the right films and series within the vast selection. Almost three-quarters of streaming subscribers (72%) find films, series, and sports spread across too many services. Approximately the same group (73%) sometimes does not watch a program or film if a separate subscription is required. This is according to KPN's annual Streaming Monitor. However, the Dutch are far from bored. Almost two-thirds (63%) look forward to new series or seasons. B&B Vol Liefde and live sports are examples of television moments that the Dutch settle down to watch.

Easier to switch
In addition, the Dutch want more control over their streaming services. For example, over half of streaming subscribers (51%) are bothered by the price level, and an equally large group (51%) wants to be able to switch between services more easily. The need for flexibility is therefore high. Robin Clements of KPN: “The Dutch are streaming more and more often, and the range of films, series, and sports is constantly expanding. Precisely because of this, it is sometimes becoming more difficult to remember what you can watch where and which subscriptions you have. In practice, we therefore see that viewers have a need for more overview and want to be able to adjust their subscriptions more easily.”

Participate in B&B Vol Liefde
KPN also conducted research into popular programs. B&B Vol Liefde (available to stream on RTL 4 as well as on Videoland) proves to be popular: about 37% of the Dutch tune in. And they certainly do not always do so because we are romantically inclined. Only a small percentage of viewers (18%) list romance in their top 3 reasons for watching the program. By far the most chosen reason is the awkward moments (49%). Interestingly, 10% of viewers would (perhaps) want to participate themselves if they were single.

Coaches on the bench
Live sports also attract many viewers. Four out of ten Dutch people (40%) occasionally watch Eredivisie football live, and three out of ten (30%) watch Formula 1. In football, the couch quickly turns into a dugout: 43% of Eredivisie viewers comment on the referee, 41% grumble at the coach or players, and 39% tell players out loud what to do. Formula 1 viewers are slightly less critical in this regard: a quarter (25%) comment on the presenters or commentators, and an equally large group on the race officials. Only 12% ever get angry at a driver.

Netflix and Videoland popular
It is striking that the majority has access to Netflix content. The Dutch Videoland is also popular. Behind that follows a broad group of international platforms and sports services.

Innovatie

With this solution, KPN customers at addresses where no—or no good—fixed internet connection is available receive an immediately available alternative for reliable internet at home. With fiber optics and 5G, KPN possesses the best networks in the Netherlands. This quality is independently recognized. For instance, KPN was recently named the best mobile network in the Netherlands for the fifth time in a row , achieving the highest score worldwide.

With 5G Internet at Home, KPN is now deploying this network quality more broadly: fixed internet via the best 5G network. 5G Internet at Home was developed with maximum simplicity as the starting point. With the integrated SIM card and plug-and-play installation, customers are online within seconds. Setting up and managing the connection is also simple via the MijnKPN app, which allows customers to quickly configure and monitor their network. The solution uses KPN's nationwide 5G network and advanced antenna technology. In combination with Wi-Fi 7 technology, the modem offers stable performance and strong coverage throughout the home, even when used simultaneously by multiple devices.

“We see that many customers need internet that is not only fast, but above all easy to install and works immediately. With 5G Internet at Home, you are online within seconds. Moreover, it is flexible: you can easily take it with you to, for example, a holiday address or temporary accommodation,” says Robin Clements, Commercial Director Consumer Market at KPN, proudly.

5G Home Internet offers unlimited data for regular use and download speeds that can reach up to 1000 Mbit/s, depending on location and network load. This makes the solution suitable for applications such as streaming, working from home, and online entertainment.

The service is being rolled out in phases. KPN is initially focusing on addresses where no or no good fixed internet connection is available. If fiber optic is available at an address, KPN will provide fiber optic. For the time being, 5G-Internet Thuis is offered as an internet solution without additional services such as TV+ or fixed telephony. However, customers can order various streaming services with 5G-Internet Thuis .

“We are building out this solution step by step and are specifically looking at usage and customer needs before scaling up further,” says Robin Clements. Customers who combine 5G Home Internet with a KPN mobile subscription benefit from KPN Combivoordeel, whereby they are rewarded monthly with a streaming service such as Netflix or Videoland.

In terms of security , 5G Internet at Home is also immediately complete. Customers receive security for five devices as standard, so they can safely browse the internet, stream, and work at home. Installation and support are handled easily via the MijnKPN app, where customers can also find help using their connection.

Check your options
Would you like to know if 5G Internet for Home is available at your address?
Go to kpn.com and do the postcode check.

Products & services

Group service revenues grew further, led by Consumer, SME and Wholesale. Consumer growth improved in both fixed and mobile, supported by our continued focus on customer loyalty and value growth. In Business, while SME continued to perform strongly, overall segment growth was held back by declines in low-margin Tailored Solutions and some softening in LCE revenues. The decline in Tailored Solutions reflected a strong prior-year comparison and our continued focus on value steering and contract quality. In Wholesale, international sponsored roaming remains a key growth driver.

While our reported EBITDA growth was impacted by the absence of prior-year sale of IP addresses and a favorable intellectual property rights settlement, underlying EBITDA growth remained strong and came in ahead of mid-term growth ambition of approximately 3% CAGR, supported by continued revenue growth and lower indirect costs. Free Cash Flow recovered during the second quarter, bringing year-to-date cash generation in line with our plan.

We continue to lead the Dutch fiber market. This year marks the fifth anniversary of Glaspoort, our joint venture, which has rolled out more than 950 thousand additional fiber lines, including business parks, nationwide. While we regret ACM's recent decision prohibiting the proposed Glaspoort-Delta Fiber transaction, we remain committed to expanding our fiber footprint across the Netherlands in a disciplined manner and within our financial framework. At the same time, we have partnered with Schwarz Digits to bring a European sovereign cloud to the Dutch market, combining KPN's secure infrastructure with the STACKIT cloud platform. This partnership responds to the growing demand for sovereign data solutions and provides customers with greater control over where and how their data is stored and processed.

Furthermore, Team KPN’s commitment to connecting everyone to a safer, more social, and greener future was recognized this quarter through the prestigious Global Grand Effie award for our #BetterInternet campaign, and the renewed Platinum rating from EcoVadis, underscoring our strong ESG credentials.

We expect group service revenue growth to accelerate to approximately 2-2.5% year-on-year in the second half of the year. For the full year, mainly due to the decline in Tailored Solutions in the first half year and some further decline in LCE, we estimate service revenue growth of around 1.5% year-on-year. We remain confident in delivering our full-year EBITDA and Free Cash Flow guidance, while preserving our mid-term ambitions, including cumulative shareholder distributions. We completed the € 250 million share buyback for this year, underlining our commitment to return all Free Cash Flow to shareholders while maintaining a strong balance sheet.

Finally, I would like to thank Hilde Garssen and Chris Figee for their dedication and significant contributions to KPN. As they prepare for their upcoming transitions later this year, we are ensuring a smooth handover and, together with the full KPN team, remain fully focused on executing our strategy and delivering on our commitments to all our stakeholders.”

Documents

Please find all the documents regarding the results here: ir.kpn.com.

Initiatives and communities where young people can turn anonymously for support and information, such as Jong&Out and Switchboard by COC Netherlands, demonstrate how important safe digital spaces are.

For many young people, that search begins small and personal: with a question in a search bar. That is precisely why the search bar is the central campaign element, symbolizing the online search for oneself: the first place where many people ask questions in complete freedom, find recognition, and discover who they are step by step. It is precisely those first moments that determine whether someone dares to develop further. In this process, the internet can act as an accelerator for self-acceptance and self-confidence.

At the same time, that same online environment is not safe for everyone. The 2024 LGBTQA+ Monitor shows that all surveyed LGBTQA+ groups experience online hate comments more frequently than cis-hetero respondents. Figures from the Safety Monitor also show that LGBTQIA+ individuals are victims of online crime more often than non-LGBTQIA+ individuals, including online threats, intimidation, and bullying. This makes it clear that digital safety and inclusion are inextricably linked.

With this campaign, KPN brings this tension together. By sharing personal stories, KPN shows how the internet can help people find themselves, but also that this development is only possible when the digital environment is designed to be safe, accessible, and inclusive. With advice from experts such as Rutgers, the expertise center for sexuality in the Netherlands , the lived experiences of young people are carefully considered.

KPN Official Technology Partner WorldPride Amsterdam 2026

For many people, Pride is a moment of visibility and connection, but not everyone has the freedom or opportunity to be physically present. That is why KPN explicitly aligns with the theme UNITY during WorldPride, in which connection also revolves around access.

As Official Technology Partner of Pride Amsterdam, KPN is once again deploying the award-winning Pride stream boat. This boat, equipped with the safe and reliable technology KPN is known for, makes it possible to stream the Canal Parade live to the whole world.

This way, everyone – wherever in the world – can sail along online with the KPN boat and be part of the moment. For people in countries where celebrating Pride openly is not a given or is even risky, the livestream offers a way to stay connected with the global community. Connectedness, therefore, is not just about being together, but also, and perhaps even more importantly, about being able to participate.

Throughout the campaign, the search bar reappears in various ways, and during the Canal Parade, this central campaign element is literally brought to life. A life-sized search bar displays real search queries that have helped people worldwide on their personal journeys of discovery. In this way, KPN shows how online connection can contribute to the freedom to be yourself – during the Canal Parade in Amsterdam and far beyond. By actively involving viewers and allowing them to share their own search queries, a collective story emerges in which personal experiences converge. UNITY thus gains meaning on two levels: on the water and online.

A #BetterInternet for the LGBTQIA+ community

The new Pride campaign is part of KPN's broader commitment to a better internet. With #BeterInternet, KPN is working on a digital environment that is safer, more social, and more inclusive, especially for people for whom online visibility is particularly important.

Previous initiatives such as Pride Verified, which focused on online hate against the community, and Loud & Proud, in which stories contribute to visibility and acceptance, show that this commitment is structural. With the new Pride campaign, KPN builds on this and brings it back to the core: an internet where everyone has the space to discover themselves.

KPN Pride: inclusion as the foundation of employership

That conviction starts within the organization itself. KPN actively works on diversity and inclusion and on a work environment where employees feel safe and free to be themselves. The internal network KPN Pride plays an important role in this and advocates for the interests of LGBTQIA+ employees.

This translates into concrete measures. For instance, the collective labor agreement stipulates that maternity leave also applies to rainbow families and that employees undergoing gender transition receive additional leave. Partly due to this, KPN received the Winq Workplace Award in the past, an acknowledgment for organizations actively committed to a safe and inclusive work environment.

Outside the organization, KPN also actively contributes to the LGBTQIA+ community, including through initiatives such as the Pink Christmas Dinner for the elderly and long-term support for scientific research into acceptance in the workplace.

“KPN is committed to diversity, freedom, and equality, both in the workplace and beyond, offline and online. We believe in the power that diverse teams and an inclusive and equitable organizational culture bring. Regardless of who you are, everyone benefits from it. That is why we continue to work on diversity and inclusion. That is good for our colleagues, for KPN, and for the customer,” says Chief People Officer and KPN Executive Board member Hilde Garssen.

At the heart of society

61% of SMEs experience stress due to expectations regarding accessibility

As many as 61 percent cite customers' expectations of being helped immediately as a source of work stress. More than half (54%) experience pressure to be available at all times, while 53 percent indicate that (telephone) availability comes at the expense of employees' concentration. This is evident from research by KPN, conducted by Motivaction, among 819 SMEs involved in decisions regarding AI and data. With the launch of a mobile subscription with AI specifically for SMEs, KPN is responding to this tension between availability and productivity.

This pressure to be available is linked to the importance of customer satisfaction: 69 percent of SMEs view increasing it as a major business challenge. It is precisely this desire to help customers quickly and effectively that makes it difficult for many smaller companies to set limits on availability, thereby contributing to it becoming a source of work stress.

Thomas Tolsma, responsible for SMEs at KPN: “For many entrepreneurs, being accessible is not a choice, but a natural part of their work. You want to help customers quickly and not miss out on orders, but in practice, that very customer contact takes a lot of time and leads to interruptions. Especially in smaller companies, where people combine multiple roles, this quickly comes at the expense of focus and overview. Entrepreneurs want to help their customers well, but in daily practice, they also run up against the limits of their own time and attention. At the same time, many SMEs are looking for ways to organize that customer contact more intelligently, without extra systems or complexity. AI applications can help with this, provided they align directly with their daily work.”

SMEs see opportunities for AI, but usage is still often ad hoc.
SMEs view AI as a way to organize accessibility and customer contact more intelligently. For instance, 60 percent believe that AI enables companies to be available 24/7 without additional staff, while 66 percent expect that AI can take over part of the customer contact and thereby reduce the workload.

However, in practice, AI is still far from being deployed structurally. More than eight out of ten SMEs (82%) do not yet use AI in a structured or strategic manner. Half of the respondents (51%) do not use AI at all, or only use it ad hoc and individually within the organization. This shows that many entrepreneurs are still looking for concrete applications that immediately solve problems in their daily practice, without extra systems or complex implementations.

KPN launches after the summer: AI on mobile for SMEs
Against this backdrop, KPN is introducing an AI extension to its mobile subscription for SMEs after the summer. In this extension, AI helps process and follow up on incoming calls and messages. The service summarizes calls, converts voicemails to text, and helps determine which customer requires attention first. With this, KPN addresses a concrete bottleneck for entrepreneurs: loss of time and concentration due to constant availability. New customers can choose a subscription with or without these AI functionalities; existing customers can add the solution without switching providers or changing numbers.

About the research
The research was conducted in June 2026 by Motivaction on behalf of KPN among 819 SME decision-makers and influencers in the field of AI and data. The respondents work at SMEs with 2 to 150 employees.

This ensures that KPN remains associated with the Dutch national team, the Orange Lionesses, the KNVB, and Dutch football across the board for longer.

Precisely at a time when millions of Dutch people are following the Oranje team at the World Cup, KPN and the KNVB are making clear how they will be working together in the coming years. Within the extended sponsorship agreement, they are focusing on three areas: a strong and reliable digital foundation for the KNVB, an improved digital fan experience for the Oranje and the Oranje Leeuwinnen, and support for amateur football with practical digital solutions.

Together behind Orange

The extension builds upon the existing sponsorship and IT partnership. KPN will continue to provide connectivity and digital support within the KNVB organization. In addition, KPN and the KNVB are working on digital applications that enhance the fan experience surrounding the Dutch national team and assist amateur clubs with their further digitalization.

Joost Farwerck, CEO of KPN: “A tournament like this shows just how much football connects the Netherlands. In such situations, you need to be able to rely on the infrastructure working. Thanks to our networks, millions of people can follow the game without delay and share their football moment instantly. With the KNVB, we are continuing to build a partnership in which technology supports football and connects people.”

From top-level football to amateur clubs

The sponsorship relationship focuses on the full breadth of Dutch football. In addition to the national team and the women's national team, extra attention will be paid to amateur clubs. KPN and the KNVB are exploring how digital solutions can practically assist clubs, both organizationally and sportively. In this way, the impact of major Orange moments should also become visible at clubs throughout the country.

In addition, KPN and the KNVB are continuing to focus on digital channels, including E_Oranje, the KNVB's Gen Z platform. In doing so, they are responding to how new generations of fans follow football: live, digitally, and always connected.

KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds

In addition, KPN and the KNVB continue to invest in initiatives that contribute to more inclusive football. Through the KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds , the growth of Walking Football at amateur clubs is supported, aimed at actively involving older people at risk of social isolation.

Long-term collaboration

The new agreement runs from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2030. KPN remains 'Partner of Football'. Running parallel to this is the integrated IT and telecom collaboration, which forms the basis for further digitalization and innovation towards 2030.

At the heart of society

The biggest football event on Earth, ever. No one wants to miss it. But with a distance of 6,000 kilometers, the chance of being there in person is slim. KPN is helping the Netherlands experience the World Cup – even right at home – better than ever. With KPN SuperFiber, you don't have to cross the ocean; the World Cup will be SUPER at home too.

The 2026 World Cup will be bigger than ever, with 48 countries, 16 host cities, and 104 matches spread across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As a result, the tournament is growing into the global sporting event where the Netherlands will also come together en masse for Oranje.

The ultimate World Cup experience starts at home
Precisely because the majority of fans are experiencing the World Cup from home, KPN positions itself as the indispensable link in that experience. With super-fast and super-stable fiber optic internet and high-quality TV services, KPN ensures that viewers can optimally follow every moment of the Dutch team, from the first whistle to the final penalty.

The campaign capitalizes on the numerous viewing moments, the enormous reach, and the high engagement surrounding the tournament. In doing so, KPN claims a clear role: enabling the ultimate World Cup experience, right at home.

Louis as the face of the campaign and SUPER predictor
Louis, KPN's famous cat, plays a leading role in the campaign. In the World Cup commercial and throughout the tournament, he is present everywhere as a recognizable and connecting face.
During the World Cup, Louis acts as a 'SUPER predictor', playfully analyzing matches and making predictions regarding the Dutch team. In doing so, he brings fans closer to the game and ensures extra engagement and recognition throughout the entire tournament.

Louis also constantly returns in social formats and activations, becoming the face of how the Netherlands experiences the World Cup via KPN.

From farewell to the final: continuously close to the Dutch team
KPN is visible throughout the entire World Cup, from the run-up with the farewell match through to the decisive phases of the tournament. The campaign follows the rhythm of the World Cup and peaks at the moments that matter, such as match days for the Dutch national team.

Fans are continuously engaged with content and activations, ranging from social formats and live content to exclusive events such as fan experiences at the KNVB Campus. The World Cup also plays an important role in the MijnKPN app, with promotions and activations that involve customers in the tournament on a weekly basis.

Together with Albert Heijn behind Oranje
Part of the campaign is the collaboration between KPN and Albert Heijn. In it, two iconic worlds come together: Louis and the famous Albert Heijn hamsters.

In joint content, they show that they stand behind Oranje together and are turning it into a fun Orange party. This crossover is visible on social media and Albert Heijn's AH.nl delivery vans, among other places. The TV commercials for both brands also contain a mutual wink, extending the Orange feeling across a wide range.

Personalized Orange World Cup cases for fans
The collaboration goes beyond just communication. Especially for the World Cup, KPN is bringing back a popular promotion: personalized Orange phone cases available to order online. Pop-up locations are being set up in selected Albert Heijn XL stores where Orange fans can have their cases made immediately. This way, the Orange experience literally becomes something you carry with you – personal, visible, and completely in World Cup style.

KPN connected to Oranje
KPN has been a partner of the KNVB for years and is committed to Dutch football across the board. From amateur football on local pitches to the Eredivisie, and from the national team to the Orange Lionesses: KPN supports the game at every level.

This broad engagement stems from a clear conviction: sport connects people. On the field, on the sidelines, and at home in front of the TV. With the World Cup campaign, KPN builds on that role and demonstrates how technology and experience come together to get the whole of the Netherlands rooting for the Dutch team and for each other.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

This solution offers a European sovereign cloud at scale and will be hosted in KPN’s data centers in the Netherlands. KPN is responsible for connectivity and IT services, while STACKIT, the cloud platform of Schwarz Digits, provides the European cloud infrastructure.

European organisations increasingly seek greater control over their data and digital infrastructure, particularly in sectors where privacy, security and resilience are critical. The solution is particularly well suited for vital organisations and sectors such as government bodies, financial services, energy and healthcare. KPN is making substantial investments in this collaboration to make this sovereign European cloud accessible in the Netherlands. This fits within the investment plans shared during the Strategy Update in November last year, with the goal to support long-term growth in the business market.

European governance and open infrastructure
STACKIT provides the cloud infrastructure based on open-source software. The service operates under European jurisdiction, with data processed and stored within Europe. The model supports portability and interoperability, allowing organisations to reduce dependency on individual providers and avoid vendor lock-in. STACKIT is audited against the BSI C5 criteria catalogue, a recognized benchmark at the highest security level for cloud security and transparency.

Joost Farwerck, CEO of KPN: “In the Netherlands and Europe, there is a clear need for sovereign cloud solutions. Dutch companies and public organisations are increasingly looking for greater control over their data and a secure European cloud at scale. KPN is an important Dutch cloud supplier, which is part of our ‘Connect, Activate & Grow’ strategy, especially in the Business Market. Developing European sovereign cloud solutions requires action and the ability to bring together expertise and resources. That’s why I'm happy to announce our partnership today. Together we are taking an important step forward by combining the demands of our customers, our KPN expertise and the knowledge and scale of STACKIT.”

Bernd Wagner, CSO of Schwarz Digits: “With the strategic partnership between KPN and Schwarz Digits, we are turning the vision of digital sovereignty in Europe into a technological reality. Through our joint go-to-market strategy, we bundle the first-class connectivity and market position of KPN with the sovereign cloud stack of STACKIT to a European powerhouse. A crucial milestone is the deep integration of our services directly into KPN's Dutch data centers. Customers can purchase the entire solution directly from KPN as their trusted partner. German companies benefit massively from the new option of seamlessly using the cloud region of the Netherlands in their existing STACKIT setup. By establishing STACKIT as a European hyperscaler, we offer an independent alternative and form the backbone for a sovereign IT infrastructure that sets a new standard.”

KPN’s strategic cloud offering
The collaboration with Schwarz Digits aligns with KPN’s broader strategic cloud offering, which includes public, hybrid and private cloud solutions. Group service revenues grew further, supported by Consumer, SME and Wholesale. Consumer trends were positive, with a healthy inflow of new broadband and postpaid customers, reflecting our emphasis on loyalty, base management and secure propositions. In Business, SME performance remained strong, while overall growth moderated as anticipated due to a decline in low-margin Tailored Solutions revenues. Wholesale continued to grow, mainly driven by international sponsored roaming.

Adjusted EBITDA AL increased in the first quarter, supported by revenue growth and savings from our cost-efficiency initiatives. As anticipated, our Free Cash Flow was impacted by the timing of interest payments and working capital movements.

Our continued investments in network quality and digital capabilities are paying off. We continue to lead the Dutch fiber market, and for the fifth consecutive year, the global benchmark organization Umlaut has recognized KPN as the best mobile network in the Netherlands, and again also with the highest score in the world. NPS scores for both our Consumer and Business segments developed favorably in the first quarter. In addition, KPN was named the most sustainable telecom brand in the Sustainable Brand Index for the seventh year in a row. All in all, these evaluations reflect the dedication of Team KPN and our sustained focus on quality and durability, which are driving improvements in customer experience and satisfaction.

Data and operational sovereignty is an increasingly important topic for our customers, and we are well positioned to support them in this area. To this end, KPN was one of the co-signees of the Manifest to support sovereign cloud developments in the Netherlands, laying the foundation for future initiatives in this field.

Overall, we remain on track with the execution of our Connect, Activate & Grow strategy. While the geopolitical backdrop remains volatile KPN’s financial results have proven to be resilient. We therefore reiterate our full-year 2026 outlook and mid-term ambitions.”

Documents

Please find all the documents regarding the results here: ir.kpn.com.

The company,Financial

Throughout the country, photos and videos were shared en masse, and people were in close contact with each other via apps and social media. The network remained stable, even during the busiest moments of the day.

14 percent more data traffic than last year

Total mobile data traffic on King's Day (Monday, April 27, 2026) was 14 percent higher than during King's Day last year (Saturday, April 26, 2025). The growth was visible throughout the Netherlands. In the five major cities, the increase in traffic was comparable everywhere. Notably, upload traffic increased particularly sharply (+21 percent). This aligns with the picture of people sharing many photos and videos via social media during King's Day. Download traffic also increased (+15 percent).

Growth visible on both 4G and 5G

The use of both 4G and 5G increased. Data traffic via 5G grew by 37 percent, while 4G traffic increased by 12 percent. Consequently, the share of 5G in total traffic continues to grow.

Busiest times in the afternoon

Nationwide, the busiest peaks in the network occurred between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. This pattern was also visible in the major cities. An exception is Dokkum, where the King celebrated King's Day this year. There, the peak occurred in the morning, between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The royal visit caused mobile data traffic in Dokkum to be seven times higher than on King's Day last year.

Also extra crowds during King's Night

Extra network traffic was already visible on the night preceding King's Day, particularly in the major cities. In cities such as The Hague and Utrecht, a clear peak was measured in the evening hours, around 9:00 to 10:00 PM.

Stand van het Netwerk

Phishing remains one of the largest forms of online crime. To better protect internet users against this, public and private parties have jointly tested a new approach in a pilot. The so-called Anti Phishing Shield demonstrates that the approach works: since the start of the pilot in July 2025, over two million attempts to visit phishing and fraudulent websites have been blocked among a group of over 200,000 users. Due to the success of the pilot, the Anti Phishing Shield is being placed under the management of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). In the coming period, research will be conducted into how the reach and effectiveness of the Anti Phishing Shield can be further increased.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and Security, the NCSC, KPN, the police, the Dutch Banking Association, and NLconnect, the trade association for the telecom and broadband industry. During the pilot phase, several additional internet providers (SNLLR, TriNed, and Kabelnoord) joined the initiative, thereby strengthening it.

A technical solution has been developed within this public-private partnership. Internet providers can easily connect to this and use it to protect their customers against phishing and other forms of online crime. To use the Anti Phishing Shield, users must give explicit consent via a so-called 'opt-in'. This also happened during the pilot.

Need

The need for this approach is great. Figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) show that in 2025, 17% of the Dutch population (approximately 2.5 million people) became victims of online crime. According to research by Deloitte, 91% of cyberattacks begin with phishing.

Eefje Zents, Director of Digital Resilience Cooperation at the NCSC, also underscores the necessity of the initiative: “The Anti Phishing Shield is a necessary step in the fight against online crime. The success of this pilot shows that by working together, we can protect consumers against the dangers of phishing.”

How does the Anti Phishing Shield work?

The NCSC continuously collects updated information via public and commercial sources regarding domains being misused by criminals. These malicious domains are analyzed by the NCSC and placed on a 'denial list,' which is shared with participating internet providers via a DNS service . This list is updated by the NCSC every fifteen minutes and currently contains over 160,000 malicious domains. Domains that have been taken offline or are no longer malicious are removed from the list. The internet providers incorporate the list into their own systems and make the service available to their customers free of charge. For customers of internet providers who subscribe to this service via an opt-in, the page is automatically blocked when visiting a malicious domain.

This reduces the risk of the internet user becoming a victim of phishing or other forms of online fraud.

Jeffrey Leusink, CISO KPN: “At KPN, security is the standard. Every single day, we work to protect consumers and entrepreneurs against digital threats. Through public-private partnerships, such as in this pilot, we combine knowledge and technology to make the Netherlands demonstrably more digitally resilient. We are happy to share the insights we have gained with other parties so that we can continue working together towards a safer digital Netherlands.”

Further development of the Anti Phishing Shield

The success of the pilot has led the Ministry of Justice and Security and the NCSC to decide to continue the joint approach. The parties involved express the ambition to further increase the reach and effectiveness of the Anti Phishing Shield. This can be achieved by reaching more customers within participating internet providers and by offering other providers the opportunity to join. In the coming period, it will be explored how this scaling up can take shape step by step.

Innovation,Our network

This varies from locating lost packages to ensuring that equipment such as modems and TV receivers arrive on time at the customer. My colleague and I ensure behind the scenes that everything runs smoothly, especially when unexpected situations arise.”

And what does your work as a reservist in Defense look like?
“For 32 years, I have been serving as a reservist in the 10th Infantry Battalion Guarding Securing Corps National Reserve. As a non-commissioned officer, I play a central role in logistics: together with my team, I ensure that soldiers and units are provided with everything they need. My tasks are very diverse: directing personnel, managing inventory, arranging transport, and planning everything so that the unit is optimally deployable.”

What does the new reservist arrangement mean for you personally?
"Thanks to these agreements, I can better combine my work at KPN and my commitment to Defense, without it affecting my private life. This flexibility brings peace of mind, allowing me to fully focus on both roles. I am proud to contribute to a safe Netherlands in this way.”

What benefits does the arrangement offer for reservists within KPN?
“Previously, colleagues sometimes had to say ‘no’ to Defense because they could no longer take hours off. That is a shame; you want to be able to contribute when needed. Thanks to this arrangement, reservists can much better coordinate their work at KPN and their commitment to Defense. This not only increases deployability but also makes it more attractive to be a reservist.”

Do you think this arrangement helps make working as a reservist more attractive?
“Absolutely. The arrangement creates a better balance between work and private life. It makes a big difference whether you can go on vacation for two or three weeks. This arrangement makes it easier, among other things, to coordinate a longer deployment with your supervisor. I hope this encourages more colleagues to commit as reservists. Ultimately, that is not only good for Defense but also for KPN as an employer. It shows that KPN takes social responsibility seriously.”

What does KPN have to do with Defense?
“The collaboration between KPN and Defense goes back many years, over 100 years! Not only has Defense been a valued customer of KPN for years, but both organizations also fulfill an important social role in the field of security. This creates a special bond and makes it even more valuable that KPN pays attention to employees who, alongside their regular work, contribute to our national security.”

View here the new collective labor agreement and read more here.

Het bedrijf

Benchmark organizationUmlaut has awarded KPN this prestigious award for the fifth consecutive year. With an overall score of 988 points (on a scale of 1,000), KPN has achieved the highest score worldwide for the fifth time in a row in a benchmark conducted in more than 120 countries.

Very high call quality score

This year, the high score for "voice," which focuses on call quality, is particularly striking. With 269 out of 270 points, KPN achieved the maximum score in this category, just one point short of the maximum. This demonstrates that both coverage and call quality on the KPN network are very high. Furthermore, stability is high, allowing users to make almost consistently high-quality calls. KPN thus achieved a score of 99% in the reliability category.

Recognition of quality

KPN CEO Joost Farwerck: “This fifth consecutive victory confirms that our strategy of continued investment in high-quality infrastructure and digitalization is paying off. It demonstrates that the best mobile network isn't just determined by the number of sites or the available frequency spectrum, but above all by the team that works every day to ensure maximum reliability, stability, and quality for our customers. The fact that other Dutch operators also perform strongly in international benchmarks further emphasizes that the Netherlands as a whole is a global leader in high-quality digital infrastructure, an essential foundation for economic strength and future growth.”

Technological innovation as a foundation

KPN COO Wouter Stammeijer adds : " For years, KPN has been consistently investing in the quality of its mobile networks, and particularly in the 5G network, both in urban and rural areas. Thanks to these investments, we provide good mobile coverage throughout the Netherlands and reliable service for both voice and data – exactly what's needed to keep the Netherlands at the forefront of digital connectivity in the coming years."

Number 1 in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven

In the tested cities with the highest network load, KPN achieved the highest scores in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague, plus a shared first place in Eindhoven. This demonstrates KPN's ability to deliver consistent quality in complex and densely populated areas, where finding new antenna sites is becoming increasingly challenging. This is partly due to its partnership with Althio, a joint venture between KPN and the ABP pension fund, which manages the telecom infrastructure for mobile networks.

Best mobile user experience

High-quality mobile internet is essential for daily life and a driving force behind the digitalization of the Netherlands. In recent years, mobile data traffic has roughly doubled every three years, the number of simultaneous users is increasing, and applications are becoming increasingly demanding. KPN works daily to provide an excellent mobile network and an optimal mobile user experience. This means seamless, high-quality video calling anywhere in the Netherlands, uninterrupted streaming and gaming, and always easy accessibility. This quality is essential now that more and more customers are opting for KPN's Unlimited services, which allow them to easily share data via the MyKPN app and browse the internet securely on the go. KPN also continues to invest in better service, including larger data bundles for fixed-mobile combinations, easily accessible customer service, and easy management via the MyKPN app. As evidence of this continued quality improvement, KPN recently launched updated mobile bundles with higher speeds and additional roaming countries. Winning this prestigious award again underscores the effectiveness of this approach.

Extensive and independent test methodology

Umlaut's annual benchmark, commissioned by Germany's Connect Magazine, is considered one of the leading benchmarks in the telecom sector. The test is conducted on more than 200 networks in over 120 countries. Driving and walking tests are conducted over several weeks in cities and towns, on highways and regional roads, supplemented with user measurements and analyses of popular services. Together, these measurements provide an accurate picture of the actual user experience on mobile networks in the Netherlands.

Read the full report here

CEO Joost Farwerck and COO Wouter Stammeijer congratulate Erik Brands (EVP Network) for the fifth consecutive time.

Het bedrijf,Ons netwerk

<pp:caseid>737052</pp:caseid>

KPN introduces the queryable infrastructure, a new solution that allows employees to ask questions to machines, systems, and infrastructure in plain language and receive clear answers immediately. This innovation saves time, reduces errors, and ensures safer and smarter work.

The queryable infrastructure – called KPN Campus – is widely applicable and is particularly interesting for companies in industry, healthcare, and logistics. Employees receive immediate answers via voice or text to questions about, for example, the cause of a malfunction or the location of equipment. This replaces the time-consuming process of searching through various systems and dashboards. KPN will present this solution live at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona together with technology partner Nokia.

From complex data to direct answers on the work floor
In complex work environments like factories, hospitals, and warehouses, a wealth of data is available, but this information is often scattered and difficult to use. Employees spend a lot of time searching for answers in various systems. KPN's queryable infrastructure makes information instantly accessible in plain language. Instead of navigating through complicated programs or disparate dashboards, simply ask a question. The system provides a clear answer immediately, so it's immediately clear where to find something or what exactly went wrong.

Practical examples:
• In a factory, an employee asks why a production line is slowing down.
KPN recognized as provider with the best digital customer experience

<pp:caseid>736745</pp:caseid>

KPN is the telecom provider with the best digital customer experience in the Netherlands. Extensive benchmark research shows that KPN offers the most reliable, user-friendly, and consistent digital experience in the market. From exploring options to purchasing, from moving to resolving issues: KPN's digital services are faster, simpler, and more predictable than those of other providers. For consumers, this primarily means they can manage their telecom needs without hassle, delays, or uncertainty.

This experience is most vivid in the MyKPN app , which has become the central starting point for virtually all customer interactions. Customers experience the convenience of an environment that effortlessly helps them every day. They can improve their Wi-Fi and home network , manage entertainment, set up parental controls , view invoices, and take advantage of personalized offers and attractive discounts when combining services. For example, a household can receive a discount of up to €7.50 on each additional mobile subscription.

The app's use is increasing year after year: over half of users open it monthly, and its rating remains high. The app is not only practical but also offers room for surprise and fun – as seen previously with the popular Attent calendar or the recent Voor Jou Vrijdag initiative, where customers receive a new gift every week.

Service queries are also faster and easier in MyKPN. Customers can report a problem directly digitally without lengthy forms or phone queues. Those who prefer to be in touch can chat directly from the app or easily schedule a callback. The app thus combines the best of digital convenience and personalized service. This is precisely why MyKPN usage continues to grow: customers experience that it works—always and everywhere.

In a benchmark study, a renowned consultancy firm tested hundreds of digital customer journeys with mystery shoppers and found that KPN leads the way at crucial moments. Whether handling a service call, changing a subscription, trading in a device, or reporting a move: KPN's digital environment proves reliable, clear, and consistent. This reliability leads to noticeable improvements for customers. For example, the NPS score for digital support for service calls changed from a negative to a positive rating, and the relocation process is now being completed digitally on a massive scale—faster and with fewer errors.

Marieke Snoep, Director of Consumer Markets and member of the KPN Board of Directors, emphasizes the importance of objective assessment: “For me, experience is your brand. In a world where customers' 'digital hours' exceed their physical lives, goodwill isn't enough to stay relevant. Having the best networks isn't enough; it's about a completely secure experience across our networks and services. Not just when there's a problem, but also in everyday life.”

According to Robin Clements, CMO Consumer Market at KPN, the recognition is a confirmation of our course: "I think the recognition is great, and it reflects our customer focus. But what I find even more rewarding is the appreciation I see daily from our customers for all our products, services, and the digital experience we offer them."

KPN is seen as a role model for other telecom providers because it combines digital reliability with a customer-focused, human approach. For customers, this recognition primarily means peace of mind and convenience: a single app where everything works, where you can manage everything, and where you can expect something fun every week. No hassle, no complicated steps — just a digital experience that helps, unburdens, and sometimes even surprises.

Click here to view the Gartner–KPN case study

Products & services

King and Minister of Economic Affairs on a working visit to KPN: a look behind the scenes of digital resilience

The visit provided a unique glimpse into how digital infrastructure in the Netherlands is monitored day and night and how disruptions and cyber threats are detected and addressed.

Importance of digital resilience

The working visit focused on digital resilience, a topic that has gained urgency in recent years due to geopolitical tensions, increasing cyber threats, and the heavy reliance on digital networks in our economy and society. At the NOC and the SOC, specialized teams continuously monitor KPN's fixed and mobile networks and those of its customers, with the aim of preventing outages and quickly containing incidents. The teams monitor identities, servers, databases, network applications, and websites, among other things, to detect potential cyberattacks in real time.

Minister Karremans (Economic Affairs): “Making the Netherlands more resilient requires preparation. From the government, from people at home, and from businesses. It's good to see, together with the King, how telecom providers are investing in the security and availability of the digital infrastructure in practice. Because in the event of sabotage, extreme weather, or a major outage, it can come under pressure. For example, providers are continuously monitoring to prevent outages and cyberattacks as much as possible. But they are also committed to having temporary internet and communication facilities available in emergency situations. This way, we are building a Netherlands that remains digitally strong, even in crisis situations.”

"The digital security of the Netherlands cannot be taken for granted. As the manager of a large part of the country's digital infrastructure, we take that responsibility very seriously: 24 hours a day, all year round. We protect the networks and digital connections that our country runs on, in close collaboration with the government and partners in the supply chain. Because our country's digital resilience depends on this collective effort," says KPN CEO Joost Farwerck.

Collaboration in incidents

The King and the Minister spoke with staff about the daily practice of network and security monitoring. Using concrete examples, they gained insight into how suspicious activity is identified, how collaboration with government and other partners is organized, and how incidents are escalated.

Afterwards, visitors were given a demonstration by VodafoneZiggo of the Vodafone Foundation's "Instant Network." This mobile emergency communications service is used worldwide during disasters to quickly restore connections between aid workers, citizens, and government agencies when regular networks are down.

During this visit, we were able to demonstrate how the resilience of our networks works in practice. Our teams monitor the networks daily to identify anomalies early and intervene before users notice them. Resilience isn't a single measure, but a holistic approach: multiple layers of security, continuous monitoring, and adequate and proactive follow-up," explains KPN CISO Vladimir Cibic.

The working visit concluded with a roundtable discussion with representatives from the entire digital infrastructure chain, including data centers, internet exchanges, and submarine cable providers. This chain functions as an ecosystem, the reliability of which depends on mutual collaboration. As the manager of a large part of the Dutch digital infrastructure – including fixed and mobile networks – and as a partner of the Ministry of Defense, KPN is a key player in this.

The company
