KPN connects sick children with favorite Eredivisie club

New video series Van Klasgenoot naar Teamgenoot (From Classmate to Teammate)

A new video series by the KPN Mooiste Contact Fonds and the Eredivisie focuses on young football fans who are unable to get to the stadium due to their illness. With the help of KPN Klasgenoot (Classmate) (a device that allows long-term sick children to participate in the classroom again) they can watch a match of their favorite club. The club’s captain takes Klasgenoot through the whole stadium. On the pitch, in the dressing room and dug-out and it's even there for the lap of honor. This way, these children get to experience what it’s like on match day and are closer than ever to their heroes!

Meet 13-year-old Jan, for example. He has an immune disorder and so he follows his lessons every afternoon via KPN Klasgenoot. His big dream is to one day stand on the pitch of his favorite club, SC Cambuur. Unfortunately, he can no longer play football himself and he can only watch Cambuur matches on the television. Thanks to KPN Klasgenoot, he can spend a day as a Teammate of his favorite Eredivisie club.

KPN supports Dutch football across the board: as main sponsor of the Eredivisie and as sponsor of amateur football, the Lionesses, and the Dutch national team. We use technology to connect fans with their footballing heroes.

In recent weeks, images of a number of children have already been show live in the Eredivisie broadcasts on ESPN. Click here  to watch all episodes of the series Van Klasgenoot naar Teamgenoot.
