KPN a global climate leader again in 2019

In 2019, KPN once again was among the 2% of companies that according to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) are global climate leaders and forerunners in reducing CO2 emissions and mitigating climate change.

Joost Farwerck, CEO of KPN, “Of course, this is great recognition for our sustainability policy, which is KPN’s contribution to making our society more sustainable. And that goes beyond our company: we’re making every effort to make the entire chain more sustainable, from our suppliers to the services and products that we provide to our customers.”

In 2019, 8,400 companies disclosed data about environmental effects, risks, and opportunities to more than 525 investors with more than US $ 96 trillion in assets, via the CDP platform. Of this 2%, this year a total of 179 companies including KPN are on the CDP A-list, the highest possible score. Alongside KPN are eight other telecom companies and four other Dutch companies on the A list.

The CDP annual evaluation and ranking is widely recognized as the industry standard in terms of companies’ transparency about their environmental efforts. The results in the report are based on energy consumption, reduction targets and strategy. Also measured is how organizations are combating CO2 emissions and climate change, what opportunities companies see for customers to develop products and services and how transparent their reporting of this is.
