Keep a sharper eye on the ball with KPN

KPN retains main ESPN channel in basic package and offers it in UHD

Football fans in the Netherlands that have a subscription with KPN never have to miss a match, because the main ESPN channel is still available to all customers in the basic package. Additionally, from August 2 this channel can be viewed in UHD. ESPN and KPN have extended the distribution agreement. This means that KPN will continue to provide the best digital football offerings.

Football is very important for KPN customers. The interest in football among viewers has increased in recent years, both in the form of the extra channel package ESPN Compleet and as part of the basic package. “We want to make football available to all our customers by keeping the main ESPN channel in the basic package,” says Jean Pascal van Overbeke, Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Board of Management of KPN. “I am also proud that our customers can now keep their eyes even more sharply on the ball because they can watch in UHD as well.” This summer, KPN broadcast the Euro 2020 football matches in UHD. This generated great interest, showing that the demand for high-quality digital football content is still on the rise.

KPN customers with the basic package can watch the main ESPN channel on channel 14. They can enjoy a selection of live football matches from the Eredivisie, Keuken Kampioen Divisie, KNVB Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. The new ESPN UHD channel is available to customers who have a 4K package. For the biggest fans who never want to miss a match, KPN offers the ESPN Compleet package, which shows all Eredivisie matches live.

More than just football
As well as the four ESPN football channels that KPN customers can watch, TV viewers are assured of the other ESPN DISNEY channels. This means that 24Kitchen, National Geographic and Fox remain in the basic package. Additionally, BabyTV and Nat Geo Wild are available in the extra packages. This way, customers can continue enjoying cooking programs, children’s series and nature documentaries.
