KPN offers businesses more continuity with 4G Backup

From now on, KPN is offering entrepreneurs free 4G Back-up, which uses the mobile network to take over the connection in the event of failures on the fixed network, thus ensuring greater continuity. 4G Back-up will be added free of charge to KPN ONE SME, also for existing customers. This is in addition to the Extra Secure Internet (Extra Veilig Internet) module, which was previously added. This protects all connected devices against viruses, malware and ransomware by blocking unsafe websites.

It is very entrepreneur’s nightmare: the failure of an internet connection at a critical moment, with all the consequences of that for the business. More than ever, a stable internet connection is crucial to keeping the business running. “Back-up via 4G has been possible for some time, but customers had to purchase a separate dongle and a SIM card”, said KPN’s Jilles Limburg. “This has now become a standard part of KPN ONE SME. If the fixed connection is lost, the modem automatically switches to the 4G Back-up. This allows the customer to keep using the internet, email and call, so that business continues as usual.”

Always online
With KPN ONE SME internet outages are resolved within eight business hours as standard. While the malfunction is being resolved, the business remains online thanks to 4G Back-up. Existing KPN ONE SME customers will be able to request 4G Back-up for free and will be notified about this shortly. Within three working days they will receive an installation package including a dongle, a SIM card and installation instructions. 4G Back-up works with the Experiabox V10 that KPN supplies as standard.

Another issue that keeps entrepreneurs awake at night is cybercrime. A single wrong mouse click in an email can shutdown the entire company, with huge financial consequences. For this reason, Extra Secure Internet was added to KPN ONE SME last year. This is an extra layer of security from the network that stops malware, ransomware and viruses by blocking unsafe websites.
