KPN Ventures invests in smart intercom solution nello

Summary

KPN Ventures has invested in nello, a developer of a smart intercom solution which enables keyless, remote access to residential buildings by upgrading existing intercom systems. The investment is in line with KPN Ventures’ strategy to invest connected home services. KPN joins existing shareholders HBT Holdings and KfW in a financing round of EUR 1.5 million.

Smart solutions for home access are expected to present considerable growth opportunities in the connected home industry. The nello solution gives apartment dwellers the ability to remotely control the main entrance door to the apartment building with their smartphone. It enables keyless entry and the possibility to remotely share access with visitors or delivery companies, optimizing logistics.

“The nello team has developed a very clever proposition, giving family and friends, delivery companies and other service providers remote access to apartment buildings in a simple and safe way,“ says Herman Kienhuis, Managing Director of KPN Ventures, the venturing arm of KPN. “We look forward to supporting nello in the further development of its smart home proposition and in its international roll-out.“

Dr. Christoph Baumeister, Nello Co-Founder and CEO: “The financing round allows us to grow the team, support our market entry and create partnerships with leading European delivery companies. That brings us one step closer to our mission to simplify urban life.“
